Frazier International History Museum |  829 West Main Street  |  Louisville, KY 40202  (See Map)

November 7, 2009

Saturday 9:00am - 5:00pm

Detail:

This October, the Frazier International History Museum will open a new temporary exhibit, WWII: 48 Local Stories That Changed the World. The exhibition captures the wartime stories local men and women from a variety of social, economic and ethnic backgrounds whose experiences exemplify the regional and national World War II experience, as well as local businesses.

The use of oral histories, interactive audio and video clips, music and dozens of artifacts help to provide insight into America's "greatest generation," as well as provoke questions such as-- why did this particular generation rise to the challenge and do so with such patriotism and passion when facing sacrifice, hardship and survival?

Leading up to the opening of the exhibition, the Frazier Museum is undertaking a conservation effort of a model of the USS Louisville. Built by Ray Arthur of Canton, Ga., the USS Louisville is taking up residency in our Great Hall, where visitors can observe the restoration of the ship by two of our volunteers.
